Omni is one of the growing number of machines to forgo the protractor for setting the cut angle. Technology now allows us to replace the protractor with a continuous measurement from Zero to 90 Deg. in one contiguous step. This measurement technique is referred to as "Zero ref Faceting"

Most traditional faceting machines use a protractor to determine the angle of cut. Each time the set knob is released, the operator must align the protractor scale with the next desired cut angle. Depending on the operator's eyesight and the accuracy of the scribed degree marks on the protractor, the cut angle can vary as much as .5 degrees. With zero ref faceting, the machine is calibrated at the dop arm zero position and from that point all cut angles are referenced from a "hard" zero position.
